Hi! I'm Marcus Toney....I was born and raised in Martinsville, Virginia where I still reside today. I grew up playing whatever sport that was in season. Whether it be for our local county or city Recreation leagues or the various traveling teams in and around the Martinsville and Henry County area, I grew up loving all sports. I graduated from Magna Vista High School in 1994. After high school, I received numerous scholarship offers from D2, D3, and NAIA colleges to play football and basketball. I ultimately decided to play basketball for Ferrum College in order to stay close to home and to be near family. While at Ferrum, I became a four year starter, played a major role in helping win a Regular season Championship as a freshmen and was also named Dixie Conference Co-Freshmen of the Year (1994). I was named D3 News Preseason All American (1995) going into my Sophomore season. And I was selected as a 3-time All Conference player (1995-1998). Upon graduating in 1999 with Physical Education Degree with a minor in Sports Medicine, I was listed as 1st All Time Steals Leader, 2nd All Time Scorer, and 4th on the All Time Assist list. After Ferrum College, I entered into the workforce and was a Volunteer Coach for basketball, flag and tackle football, and soccer for 7 years. I then took a few years off from coaching because of the birth of our second son until I missed being on the sidelines. I then became a Volunteer Assistant Coach for Men's basketball at Patrick & Henry Community College in 2009. I was put on staff the next year (2010) as a Full Time Assistant where I served as Director of Player Development, Scouting, and Recruiting for 8 years (2010- 2018) and I became the Head Coach in 2018 for 2 years. I have a passion for developing an athlete's skill and performance and as a result of my passion, while coaching at Patrick & Henry Community College, I produced 22 NJCAA Region 10 All Conference players in which 19 of those 22 players went on to play at the D1, D2, D3, and NAIA levels, 6 of those 19 players went on to play professionally, and 5 went on to play semi-professional. I also have a passion for helping qualified athletes who are looking to further the athletic careers at the 4-year level!
